Location
Panama is located between Costa Rica and Colombia. Borders both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. It is slightly smaller than the state of South Carolina.

Climate
Panama has a tropical climate. Temperatures are around 80-90º F (25-30º C), and humidity is always high.

Seasons
There are only two seasons, the "dry season" from January to mid-May, and the "rainy season" from mid-May to December. Panama is not tormented by hurricanes, nor earthquakes.

Lowest point 0 feet Pacific Ocean, highest point 11,401 feet Baru Volcano.

Population
Approximately 3.3 million.

Language
Spanish is the official language.  English is widely spoken in business, banking, retail, and other tourist-oriented activities.
 
Time Zone
Panama is in the the Eastern Standard Time Zone (EST).  It does not observe Daylight Savings Time.
 
Political System
Democratic independent republic.

Currency

The currency is the Balboa and has the same value as the US dollar. The dollar is legal tender in Panama, which doesn't print bank notes, but does mint its own coins.

120 volts, 60 cycles in all parts of the republic.
